American Heart Association 
Instructor Course
The AHA instructor course is taught in a blended learning format. AHA instructor candidates must complete the online portion, followed by the hands-on session conducted by BLS Training Center Faculty. 

Prior to taking this course, candidates must have a current BLS Provider course completion card. Candidates who successfully complete the AHA instructor course, followed by course monitoring, will receive a BLS Instructor card, valid for two years.
AHA instructors are then able to teach the BLS Provider course and any course within the Heartsaver portfolio.

Part 1: Online BLS Instructor Essentials Course
  •  How to adequately use AHA Instructor teaching materials
  •  How to ensure that students meet learning objectives
  •  How to offer student coaching skills
  • How to provide an objective skills performance evaluation
  • How to follow AHA Instructor and course policies
  •  The course covers core content and discipline-specific content required to teach AHA courses
Part 2: BLS Instructor Classroom Course
  •  Learn material about the Heartsaver and BLS disciplines that candidates will be teaching
  •  Demonstrate hands-on instructor skills
  •   Learn how to use all instructor materials and skills
  • Pass a written exam
  • Performing high-quality compressions
  •  Practicing proper hand placement and body position
  •  Instructor candidates must successfully be monitored teaching within 6 months of completing the hands-on session of the AHA Instructor course
